Cub Scouts for Boys

We had a great Scouts last night. It was a little rainy, but Andrew is like me. "You don't throw in the towel just because it might rain." We took the boys to Kanawha State Forest. Andrew had a kayak, fishing gear and I took the boys on a little hike. It worked well. We saw fish, birds, ducks, beavers, turtles, etc. Great 2 hour outdoor trip, high payoff. Here's a few pics.

Hiking. I looks pretty dark, but that is the tree cover.

A little fishin'.
At the waters edge.

This kayak looked like a lot of fun.
Thanks Andrew...!!

More Boating...

The kids and I took yesterday off and went to the lake... Again. We took a bunch of kids from church. Technically it was a 3 ward YM YW activity (3 wards = 20 kids). I don't have pictures yet. But we did go to Summersville Lake. Most everyone here talks about Summmersville Lake as the best place to go. Well, they can keep it. It was fun, any day on the lake is better that a day in the office, but Sutton Lake was better, closer, faster.

We sent several kids home with bloody knees from whippin' them around on the tube. Yeah, Navy I was skipping kids across the water like we skipped you. Haha, that was a great time. This trip was a long, long day, Isaac, Lexy and I left the house and 7:15am and got home at midnight. I will be tired for a couple days.

I'll post pictures if'n I get some.

Boating in WV...

We finally unloaded the boat from moving to West Virginia. We lost some Christmas decorations and I have some scrubbing to do on my dutch ovens (a little rust), but over all we did ok. Amy spent ALL day on Saturday scrubbing the inside of the boat. It was gross. We made it out on the lake today. We went to Sutton Lake east of Charleston about an hour and fifteen minutes. Beautiful lake. Heavily wooded hills on all sides. We got all of our usuals in, Isaac wakeboarded, Lexy skied and then tubed, I wakeboarded a bit and Amy studied (that is her new usual, everywhere we go.) Here are some pictures of our trip.

One of our first views of the lake.

The dam. Go USACE.

The kids waiting quite impatiently in the "No Wake Zone".

Isaac popped up first try and was back to jumping in no time.

Lexy water skied for a bit, but she really wanted to tube and loved every minute of it.

Lexy got some wheel time.

Amy is working hard for our future. She studies everywhere we go.
Yes, even at the lake.

Been a while

Sorry it's been a while since I have posted... Crazy week at our house. I have been trying to get to bed earlier and have been busy busy at work. The two times I have posted the most. Anyway.
Here are some pictures from the Taylor Swift concert. The kids and I went so Amy could stay home and study. I have a good video half done, I'll post it when it's done.
I was at our seats for all of these pictures. We had tickets for 5th and 6th row, but to the side they were 1st and 2nd to the stage. It was awesome. I have never been to a concert with this much energy... and emotion. Very intense.
Isaac and Lexy before the show started.

Taylor Swift singing 'Love Story'.
She did a 3 sec, on stage, costume change into a white wedding dress to sing the verse where the boy proposes to the girl. Intense.
Taylor belting it out on her knees... This pushed a lot of emotion into the crowd.

Isaac got a pick from all three bands that played.

Finally a Car Show with a Sports Car

Isaac and his hunt for Sports Cars has taken us to a few car shows lately, he always seems to come away disappointed because, "There are no sports cars." Remember, a sports car starts with Corvettes and goes up from there is his book. No cars older that 2005, no Firebirds, Cameros (except 2009 an 2010) or Chargers. Only Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Well we stopped in Athens, OH on our way to Columbus to take Grandma and Grandpa Young to the airport. There was a little car show there... low and behold there was a 2009 Lotus. Jackpot, he was stoked. We looked at it for a bit and the guys liked Isaac for some reason so he help Isaac into the driver seat for a few minutes. BIG smiles...

Isaac in the driver's seat.
From the front, yep Isaac's in the driver's seat still.

He's counting up the MPH on the dash.

Finally found a car show with a "Sports Car".
Tons to blog... but I need sleep... Sorry, stay tuned.

Isaac's Cars

Isaac in quite into sports cars right now. He is always on the look out. "Dad, there's Corvette." "Look, there is a Mustang GT." "Dad, look a Porsche." His favorite... Lamborghini! He is sooo into who has seen one, where, and what color. We took him to the Lamborghini dealership in Columbus last weekend. Turned out pretty good, we ended up in the shop looking a one on the lift having the clutch changed out. Lotus, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Ashton Martian, they had them all. I hope you enjoined his video.

The Other Zoo Pictures

So, here are the rest of the zoo pictures from the Columbus Zoo on Saturday. We went in the rain. I'd guess we only saw 20% of the place, it's just too hard in the rain. Looked like a good zoo. Their web site said that they were voted #1 in the US, that's what the web site said...

The orange spot is a 5 day old monkey.Yep, Amy studied most of the time, she's reviewing
PowerPoint lectures on her iPod.

Welcome to the Crackberry Club

Amy has been fighting a blank-ity blanken Plam Treo cell phone for the last year or better. She has had to reset the phone between 8 and 25 a week, pull the battery and reset the phone. What a pain in the butt. Several times she has been close to putting it under the wheels of the Yukon and driving over the sucker.

So, I finally talked here into the Crackberry world. It's been a month now, and...

...she loves it. It's easy to use. It's pink (bonus for Lexy). Does everything the Treo did and, and, and doesn't have to be reset all the freaking time.

Welcome Honey, Welcome...!

Our July 4th Weekend

We spent the weekend at the racetrack this year. There was a points race for the Tyler Mountain Series, so we were there. They had a two day event. On Friday there was practice, a holeshot contest, a jump contest, a freestyle display, and back to practice. Then on Saturday it was racing as usual.

Isaac had talked me into riding this weekend. Which adds a level of busy-ness to the whole thing. We can't seem to be early to the track for some reason. On Friday I was trying to get my bike going, get dressed, etc. when Isaac when down to the track for the 50cc practice. I was sitting I my bike, warming it up and looking toward the track, when I saw a commotion and then Amy running across the track. "Lexy, stay in the trailer. DO NOT get out!" and off I when to the track. Sure enough Isaac had gone down hard again. He knocked the wind out of himself and was pretty scared. He rode his bike back to the trailer himself and rested for a while. He says that he is done double jumping, but he jumped it again later that night.

Isaac was sooo excited about the contests. He did well getting a 2nd in the jump contest and a 3rd in the holeshot contest. There were some guys that wanted to do some freestyle. They were doing some heal clickers, knack-knacks, whips, etc. Isaac begged and begged to do the freestyle. He asked the tracks permission and we ended up letting him. The show was two guys in their early 20's on 250cc bikes and Isacc on his 50cc. It was pretty fun. He did a couple of no footers and a back pop-o-wheelie. He crashed up on this third jump. We rushed up to him, but he was OK. As we were picking up his bike I said, "Put your arms in the air." He faced the crowd and through his hands up... The crowd when wild. He loved it. And we send him to the trailer, Amy and I couldn't take any more anxiety.

On Saturday the clouds were looming... But, we both signed up to race. We were late enough getting to the track that I didn't get my bike out for practice. I wanted to make sure I was at the track for Isaac's practices. About the time the practice order ended, it started to rain. I got changed and Isaac's races were early in the race order. Race 3, 6 and 9. Mine was 21 out of 24. By the time race 6 came around Amy didn't want Isaac out on the track, too, way too muddy. Kids were slipping and sliding all over the place. Isaac and I talk about riding smart and not taking chances in the mud. He did great, most of the other kids had a spill or two but Isaac kept it on two wheels. He got two 2nds and a 3rd. I didn't even get the bike out.

Lexy have a lot of fun with the four wheeler and hammock.

Once the races got through the first round the owner of the track called it and canceled the rest of the racing for the night. So, we loaded up the bikes that Amy had washed and went to Pizza Hut.

We got home in plenty of time to light our own massive pile of fireworks. It took nearly 15 minutes of 2 to 3 at a time to burn them all up. Isaac had a lot of fun being in charge of the the layout. Amy and Lexy loved the show from a blanket on the front lawn.

Here is a quick video of our 2 day 4th of July...

How young were we...?

So, today I needed a program that I knew I had on an old disk from a few years back. As I browsed the disk, I found a bunch of old pictures from my USU webpage. WOW..!! How young we look. The kids had fun looking at pictures of Mom and Dad from before they were born. Lexy had stars in here eyes as she looked and pictures of Amy in the woods. Isaac was excited to see the pictures of us riding and with motocross stars. I hope you get as big of a kick out of these as we did.
