Fishing Again

We had another nice little fishing evening yesterday.  Isaac and I ran over to our spot on the river.  This time we got into the fish.  Isaac caught 7...!!!  This is one happy fisherman...

Open Stage for Kids - April 2013

The Unity Church here in Charleston has a great every fourth Friday event... Open Stage for Kids. It gives kids a great place to perform, even if the audience is nothing but that parents that brought the kids. Both Isaac and Lexy performed this last time around.

Yes, they both happen to be in sports practice clothes.  Isaac just from lacrosse practice and Lexy just from soccer practice.

LAX Game - Bridgeport 2013

The Charleston Middle School Lacrosse team hosted the Bridgeport boys for a B Team game this last weekend.  Isaac saw A LOT of playing time.  He was a rock on the defense for them.  Late in the 3rd quarter Isaac was calling to come out, because he had run the ball into the attack zone, but the coaches wouldn't let him come out.  They needed him in there.  Charleston ended up winning 13-5.

Here is Isaac chasing down a ball in the corner.
Here's Isaac (#18) with the ball trotting behind the net.  Two kids in chase and one trying to cut him off on the far side.  He didn't mind much, seemed to enjoy running over the other guys.
Here is the team huddled up for a pep talk just before the 4th quarter.
Isaac started the game at D wing, took a short break at the end of the 1st.  Played some mid-fielder (midee) in the second, then went back to D.  Started the second half at D wing, and never came out the rest of the game.

Good Job Isaac...!!!

CFS Club Competition - 2013

Charleston Figure Skating Club teamed with the Learn to Skate program and  had their spring competition this weekend.  Lexy hadn't signed up, until Tuesday when Ms Heidi signed her up.  I didn't even have a say.  AND, I still need to pay her for it.

Lexy skated to her "Dog Days are Over" bit and did the interpretative as well.

Here's Lexy with her long time skating buddy Alexis.  We don't see Alexis much because we are on different schedules, but it's always a treat when we do get to see her.
Here's a snap shot of and troublesome crew.  These three could get into some TROUBLE.
Lexy got 1st place with her program.
And 2nd with the interpretative.  Can you guess what song they skated to...??

WV Power Game (2013)

We got in our first West Virginia Power Game last weekend.  They are always fun.  Especially when you sit by Mr Toast.  He was rocking it that night.  The stats he has are so much fun.  He was really running it on one guy about leading the league in strike outs.  Pretty darn funny...!!1

Hey batter, batter batter...
Family photo.
Friday night fireworks... WooHoo...!!!
I still like the fireworks pictures, even when they are just on the iPhone.
This is a sweet column of fire...
It sure is nice to have a home town baseball team.  Such great times at the ball park...

Fishing

We've got the fishing bug again.  I hope that we can cash in on it.  We've been fishing close to home at some spots on the Kanawha River.

Here's some casting in one a side pond.
Pulling a little fish out of the water.
Baby Perch.
Different day here.  Lexy got in on the action. This is a sweet spot to fish.
Isaac with a little bit bigger Perch.
My buddy at work is helping me line up Isaac to catch some bigger better fish.  Stay tuned for some sweet fishing pictures... I hope...!!!

JA 5k

Lexy and I ran the John Adams Middle School 5k...

It was pretty fun, but a tough one if your not into running.  There were some steep roads in the run.  One as steep as 10% grade.  It was pretty funny to see all the 'walkers' 200 yds in to the run because the hill was so steep.

Lexy was super cute in her running tights with the new Nike shorts and shirt.
We snapped a quick pre-run photo.  I had to wear my "Running Sucks" tee for this one.  In fact, I got several comments on it. :)
Lexy ended up running most of the run with her friend and former Honeybee, Molly.  My goodness can that girl do a form perfect cartwheel.
Over all was pretty darn fun.

Isaac's End of Season Hockey

Mike Hall just plain rocks...!!

Derby Hats

When is Rome, right...???

Well, we were in Louisville for Lexy skating competition, but we always end up venturing out some to see what is around.  We ended up doing a little hat shopping.  With the Kentucky Derby only a few weeks away, there were a lot of hats for sale.  None that I could ever justify or afford.  But it was sure fun to watch Lexy enjoy trying them on.  Isaac about had a come apart when he saw some of the prices... "You could get a brand new pair of twin tips for that price..!!"

Here are our pics of Lexy enjoying the Kentucky Derby Hats...

Louisville Skating Competition

Lexy skated in the Louisville Skating Academy spring competition this last weekend.  This is about the 3rd or 4th year that she has skated in this one.  It's always so much fun to watch her skate, even more when she is competing.  She took 7th in Preliminary Test Track Program and 4th in Preliminary Interpretative.  For the interpretative her group got 'Call Me Maybe'.  Super fun for those girls.

Here are some super great pictures from her program.

If you watch what you are looking at there, several of those shots are mid jump.

I will be posting some video's of her programs later.

Isaac and The Snowshoe AirForce

Isaac has been SOOOO obsessed with skiing.  But he comes by that obsession honest.  He spends most of the 3 hour drive looking for new skis and gear.  He put together quite a bag of trick for goofy costumes to ski in for the last weekend.  He teamed up with a young man from the Beckley area that he has watched all season at both Winterplace and Showshoe.  I dubbed them the Snowshoe AirForce.

Here he is in his DragonBall Z outfit with a neck tie and Fox hat.
The stinker has been launching the jumps all season.
He loves to slide the box rails.  His typical move is to slide sideways and land switch (backwards).
I wish that I had a better shot of him in the X-up.  The side shots don't quite give the effect.  But still, he's rockin' it.
This is one sweet picture.  Even more impressive when you know that he is traveling from right to left in the picture and rotating to land switch.  This was a sweet little jump under the lift that he used all weekend.
"WooHoo!! Remember the 80's..!!!"  he shouted as he dropped in to this mogul run.  He's been watching 'Hot Dogging' videos on YouTube and was blazing down these runs.  Wait until you see the video.
So, season totals for Isaac:  13 days, 3 resorts, one EPIC season...!!

Lexy Rocking Snowshow

So, we've been ski bums lately.  Ever since we got the Ridiculous Passes for Snowshoe we have spend all of our somewhat free time up there.  We've been six days since the first of March.  That works out to be $33 a day so far, AND we have all of next season.  Enough of all that, let's get to the pictures of Lexy.

This is hitting the slopes first thing in the morning on Saturday.  Bundled up and read to ride.  Is there a cuter ski bunny?  I submit that there is not.
We took a break mid-day on Sunday to watch the skimming.  Lexy got herself a nice seat to see it all first hand.
Here is is cruising a groomed carving run.  She has her tunes in her ears, pretty descent form, and plenty of her own speed.
We spend plenty of time on Saturday trading silly items to ski in.  Here's Lexy in the DragonBall Z top, with a tail and a neck tie.
Lexy is not afraid for the jumps.  She blasts over them as well as any 9 year old.  If you look at this one she in just finishing a grab of the right ski on this jump.  Yep, with style...
I wasn't so sure about this, but she showed me... Here she in mid-mogul run.  She even to the time to thumbs up as she passed me.  She picks a line, controls her speed, makes her turns, and concurs the slopes.
Lexy launching the side jump just below the lift.  She jumped in all weekend.  This jump seemed to get better and better as the weekend went on.
It's bitter sweet to have the season over.  Skiing is such a fantastic time, however, I am exhausted.

Season total for Lexy 10 days, 3 resorts, one EPIC season...!!
