All County Strings Concert

We got the All County Concert done...  Isaac loved it.  He was so excited about performing there at the Clay Center again.  He was so proud of the way it all sounded.

We also linked the Middle School Videos:

We had fantastic balcony seats, perfect view of the whole stage.  Thank you for everything Andi...!!!

Can't wait to see him perform again... Oh wait, that is tomorrow night at the Alum Creek Strings Concert.

All County Strings Practice

All County String Concert is tonight.  Of course Isaac make it again this year.  He is such a fantastic violin player, and he loves to play.  He wants to be first chair, but there are no tryouts at this level.

I snapped a few pictures at rehearsal the other night.  If you look close to the right of the conductor Isaac is sitting in what would be the First Chair.  He is wearing a red shirt.
Here is a more close up version.

It's a big day for Isaac, he even gets to miss school all day today, excused, because of All County Strings Rehearsal downtown.

Way to go Buddy...!!!!

Late Easter Treat

Oh boy, I've had the Peeps in the freezer for like two weeks waiting to make these fun Easter Rice Crispy treats.  They were fun, and yummy.

Thanks Pinterest for the idea...!!

Charleston Art Walk

The kids and I spent a few hours downtown last Thursday night at the Charleston Art Walk.  I figured that it would be a fun event.  Lexy was game, Isaac wasn't too interested.  In the end we all had a blast. We went down there after dinner, parked the car in a bank parking lot (took a change on being towed), and walk around to the different businesses that were participating.

One of the highlights was some small bluegrass groups playing tunes at different spots along the street.  Most of you know that I love live music.

We spent quite a bit of time in the Art Emporium. They had some nice stuff.  I wanted the kids to pick their favorite and tell me why they liked it.  Didn't work, they had like eight favorites each.  So, I grabbed a few picture of some that they liked.

Here is Lexy with some digitally produced art.  They were really cool...!!!  The one in the upper right corner was called 'Alien Egg', I wish that I had a better picture of it.
Isaac liked these pictures because they were built up oil paint nearly 1/2 inch thick.  They were really cool looking.
This was one of my favorites.  The ol' sheriff dog with the double barrel shot gun.
One of the other places we visited was Modern by Design.  They have all of this strange modern furniture.  Lexy liked this chair a lot.
I don't have any pictures but we spent nearly 45 mins with Chip the Diamond Doctor at Delfine's on Capital St.  He was awesome.  We went in there for Lexy to look, just for fun by the way, and ended up that Isaac had the most fun in there.  He asked Chip about this microscope that was on the counter.  Next thing you know he has a $10k diamond in there showing us the flaws.  After a bit of Isaac being so interested he pulled out another large diamond worth $40k to show us the feather flaws in it.  What a neat experience.

We will be visiting the Art Walk again.

Cup Cakes

Lexy frosted cupcakes at Activity Days this week.  She love it.  The whole room was a buzz when I peeked in to check on her.

Yum...

Cake for Fun

The other night Isaac wanted to make a cake.  He got the batter all mixed up and ready and then decided that he wanted to make an iPod cake.  So, black frosting with white lining it was.
Look he even has the apps.

Good job buddy...!!

Night on the Town

Lexy got to have a sleep over with her friend Averi the other night, that gave Isaac and I the chance to have a night on the town.  He practiced soccer until 8pm, jumped in the car, change clothes on the way and we went to the Queen tribute show at the Clay Center.  WOW...!  What a great time. Isaac loved it. He's like me, any live music is good.

The show was a collaboration between a Queen cover band, the West Virginia Symphony, and the West Virginia State University Choir.  Bruce HOOKED us UP again.  We had box seats for the first half, then after the intermission we moved down to the center section seats.
Not much for pictures, but the music was awesome.  So fun.  The singer was very interactive, lots of fun jokes, historical info on the band, etc.
After the concert we slipped over to Pies and Pints for some pizza.  Yum..!!!  We got half Chicken Gouda and half Pineapple Pie.
The next morning Isaac played some soccer.  It was his first game since first grade in St George.  For some reason the coach started him at goalie.  He had never even practiced at goalie.  But he did his job.  Had 3 or 4 saves in the first half to shut out the other team.  Here is a picture of Isaac in the box.
In the second half he started as a defensive wing, took about a 10 min break and went back in as an offensive wing.  If fact with about two minutes left in the game she came streaking up the middle took a pass from the teams star player, and crushed it into the net.  Way To Go ISAAC....!!!

Poor Lexy.  I ended up being her soccer coach this year so, I haven't got any pictures.  I will try, maybe I can talk Isaac (my assistant coach) into taking some photos.

Civil War Days

A few weeks ago after one of Lexy's basketball games, we went to the Civil War Days in Hurricane, WV.  It really was a good time.  We got there just in time to see the last battle.  Some cannons, some guys running around in the woods, Isaac was way into it.

Here are a few of the cannons off in a distance, one had just fired.  You can see all the camp tents in the back ground.
And a fist full of guys on the edge of the woods.
Lexy tried on an old school bonnet.
Isaac got to try a real top hat.
We got our turn on the free wagon ride.  We all enjoyed that.
Lexy had her picture 'made' with President Lincoln.
Of course she tried on a period dress, wish I could have bought it for her.
Isaac used his allowance to by a wooden sword and a Union hat.
It was a good time, now we need to get our butts in gear and see more of the real sites in the area.

Way to Go CUBS

My goodness I am behind on this blog.

Lexy's basketball team won the league championship.  They finished the season 10-0, undefeated...!!  Way to go girls, Coach Paul, and Coach Jamie.
The second place team had given them a run for their money on the weekend before the tournament.  But in the championship game the new offence that Coach Paul put in dominated.  They ran away with the game.

Here is Coach Paul in the post game speech to the girls.  There is Lexy on the far left.

I did what I could to embarrass her by painting my face and screaming the whole game...  This was Saturday's paint job.

Here we are after the Championship game, Lexy has her medal in her hand.
Isaac and I had this horn, but the refs came to us and informed us that we could not blow it during the game AT ALL.  So, once the game was over Isaac went NUTZ with it...!!  I swear I would have passed out he blew it so loud and so long.
Here is a side story.  Isaac wanted to try the Doritos Loco Taco from Taco Bell.  He loved it.
