End of August Random

Ok, here are some miscellaneous activities and pictures from the last week or so in our lives.

We had some new pictures of the kids taken a week ago or so. We got this one printed and hung on the wall. Good lookin' kids huh...?? You can look at all the picture on this web page, Annie Weible Photography. Let me know if you need a print. This is the new shirt that Lexy picked out with the money from her Grandparents. It smells like ice cream too.

At Third Base the other day Isaac made this little guy. It's Goku from Dragon Ball Z, his favorite cartoon. Pretty stinkin' good I say.
Isaac caught a butter fly the other day at my office. It was fun to watch him chase it down. It's kind of a funny look on his face, he didn't seem grossed out by it at the time, but this picture looks like he is.

Both kids were excited when I showed them this book that my Dad sent me. (Thanks Dad..!!!) It's the new 222 cookbook that was done by the family support group. There are about 5 recipes in there that I had sent to them. The kids think it's pretty cool that I have published recipes that you can buy in stores. I didn't tell them you can only buy it in Richfield.

WV Wild Pre Pre-Season Game

The Athens, Ohio coach called our PeeWee's coach and wanted to have a preseason scrimmage. What fun. The teams had not skated together yet. The coach didn't know all his players yet. Oh it was so nice to get in the hockey environment again. The WV Wild won 6-1. Our goalie Will almost got a shut out. As for me, I had a blast running the music from the stands using the wireless transmitter and my iPod.

Here is a blurry action shot of Isaac in the white chasing down on of the Athens kids. Here is Isaac on a break away headed in for a shot. He had 3 shots on goal, and one assist.
Here's the young man is skating in position. I was quite proud of him he remember to play his position most of time.
Isaac's number one fan was there too. Lexy was SO excited that Isaac let her wear one of his jerseys during the game.

Cake Party at the Payne's

Lexy went to the Payne's house on Friday night for a Birthday Cake party. It was C's birthday a few weeks ago, so they had a cake decorating party. How fun, home make everything, even the fondant was from scratch. Awesome job Ceri...!!! These photos were passed on to me.

Ready to go.There is some sweet decorating action. As promised, here are some pictures of the cake that Lexy decorated. Mmmm was it good too...!!Lexy Jo and her cake.

Color Splash

I was recommended a new App for the iPod yesterday (Thanks Stephen). It's called ColorSplash. It was $0.99. My goodness is it fun. When you load a photo the programs turns in black and white, then you can zoom in a paint the color back in. It is simply removing the black and white filter from that section of the photo. Really cool. Here are a couple of photos that I was playing with last night.

This original photo was from last weekend at the Lego training. I like how her eyes pop in this now. They are clearly blue in this photo. Some of the others they are green. If you look super close you can see that I put the color back into her ear ring too. This is an old photo from two summers ago. But I love the picture. I wanted to just do his eyes, but they were too pale. So, I did his eyes and the blue on his chest protector, and the star on his helmet. Don't look and the big 'holiday' on his left shoulder.Last night we took Jamie for the evening. She needed some special time with a friend. She she met us at the ice rink and ice skated for the first time. She did awesome. Boy did she ever have some hard falls, but she always popped back up. My favorite quote of the evening was, "How long until I am as fast as Lexy?" That was too cute. This picture is of Lexy and Jamie on The Mound in South Charleston looking up Main Street. They were enjoying their Oreo shakes from the Dairy Bar. The photo was super cute before the edit, but I love it now. I will certainly be editing more pictures, and the kids will have it on their iPods pretty quick too.

Isaac's Current Wish List

So if you know Isaac much you know that he is always got a wish list going... There is always something on his mind that he wants. He is always looking for ways to earn money to buy what ever it is. So here are some of the things that he is currently after. I have to admit some of them I want for him a little more that he wants them. Maybe you can guess which ones.

These shoes are awesome. This picture is from Reebok's web site where you can put custom colors on you shoes. This is a custom setup, but they look so good. Problem is the custom pair are $140. Even the off the shelf shoes are $100. We might be waiting for a while, but they are cool. With football season ramping up we always need to fly our colors. Isaac is an Eagles fan. These tee shirts that have the logo on the front and the name and number on the back are cool and cost a whole bunch less that the jerseys.Of course if we look at a football tee shirt we better not forget to look at the hockey one too. Isaac's favorite player is Kris Letang from the Penguins. He has a Letang jersey, but the tee shirt would be better to wear to school and under his hockey pads. Now for the things that are REALLY driving Isaac right now. He played some Halo at a friend's house and loved it. I am not sure that I am ready for a first person shooter at our house. We'll have to see what he can talk me into.He played this game at the BestBuy the other night. He loved it...!!! It is pretty cool. The guy climbs up buildings by the window ledges, rain gutters, moulding, etc. and gets the people trying to shoot him. I know, it's a lot like a first person shooter. But, man this game was cool.If he wants to get inFAMOUS 2 he will need one of these too. It doesn't come for Xbox or Wii. He's got some workin' to do if he is going to get all of this stuff...!!

FIRST Lego League in Kanawha County

The kids and I attended a training session for the FIRST Lego League. This was a kick off for the program in Kanawha County. The programs is it's own thing, however to get things started NASA has provided the robot kits, with the WVU Extension Service STEM program, MARS a Morgontown robotic club, and the local 4-H program are funding, hosting, and training for the event. During this presentation Todd from NASA is on the left and Phil from MARS is on the right. It was a pretty cool time. Here is a shot at the end of the training of Todd from NASA and Isaac with the robot that Isaac had programed and used all weekend. Here is Lexy and Lillia. The girls group named there robot Lillia. Of course it was a girl's name. She had a lot more fun than I thought she would at this. I expected her to get board and whine and through a fit. Not once. She ate this stuff up. She loved it.Here is a picture of the Saturday girls team. Ari, Lexy, and Camryn... and of course Lillia. Wait until you see the stuff that these three programed her to do. Twists, and turns, and specific distances, and sensors. This is a quick screen shot of the software that is used to program the robot. It is pretty sweet. The 7 and 8 year olds have now problem running the program. Cool stuff...!!!
This didn't cost us anything but time. They even fed us three meals. What a deal.

First Day of School 2011

Today is the first day of school for Isaac and Lexy. Isaac is in 5th grade and Lexy is in 3rd. So this is how the morning went...
At 6:15am they were like...Both of them got up happy and got themselves going. We had laid out their clothes the night before. Had some sausage, eggs, and toast for breakfast. Got hair done and teeth brushed.
By 6:45am they were both like...I walked them into school this morning. I wanted to watch them with their friends for a bit. Kids were surprised and happy to see them. Ms. Schur welcomed them at the door. It was a super busy place. Parents every where, teachers mixed in the crowd. Oh yeah, and there were some kids too.
So by 7:05am Isaac and Lexy were like...

Isaac had wanted to disguise himself for most of the day. It took some talking, but I convinced him that the school would not let him wear a mask over his face. :) He went pretty anti-climatic with the hoodie over his head and all. But once he got in with his friends, it was all good.

I figured that I better post a picture of Lexy's hair for the first day of school. She went with the standard "part pony". We added the big flower to go with her dress. Thanks Aunt Lyn for the new bows...!!!

Fuller's Swing

Both Isaac and Lexy have had a BLAST at the Fuller's place. They have a sweet play house with a rope swing and zip line. The rope swing is super fun. Here are some little videos of the kids riding it.

Rib Fest Videos

So here are the uploaded videos of Isaac from Rib Fest in Huntington last weekend.

He climbed all three sides of this rock wall. The other kid had like a 30 second head start on Isaac. I thought that he was going the catch and beat him. It was close. I love Isaac's smile at the end.

This is the bungee cord lanes. He made one cord look so easy that they hooked two cords up to him. As you see he had to work, but he still got the job done. Good Job Isaac...!!!

This was his highlight. He loved these balls. The other boy in the video is Isaac's friend from hockey Will. They had a blast in these balls. Isaac has been looking online to find one to buy.

What Has Lexy Been Up To...???

So what has Lexy been up to...???

She has been busy. And she hasn't skated in nearly a week. Weird. Good thing she has a Ms Mischa lesson tonight. On Monday she got to go to the birthday party of Sophie Johnson. They did some fantastic face painting. Super cute, huh?Later that evening the Payne girls came to our house for dinner and playing. We hadn't been to our house for 5 minutes and here they came with lip stick on. So we had to get a picture of the pouty lips. Then I demanded that it got put away, no more makeup...!!! They ended up painting nails. Lexy got a new box to keep her fingernail polish, etc in. If you look close on the table you can see it open there. It's got pink designs and a clear lid. She has clippers, files, polish remover, cotton balls, Q-tips, and about 6 colors of polish... and counting.By Tuesday she needed more polish. So at lunch time we grabbed some more to match her cloths. Here she is waiting for her chicken nuggets and painting her nails. Lexy got a bit board at my office in between movies. So she was drawing dresses and this flower was so cool that I had to take a picture and share.

And that is what Lexy has been up to...

Rib Fest 2011

Rib Fest is a holiday at our house. Especially for Isaac. He LOVES ribs. So when we missed the Charleston Rib Fest, due to being in Utah. We went to the Huntington Rib Fest this year. I let Lexy off the hook, she hung out with her friends instead.

Here is Isaac just inside the gates. Must have an action shot... Mmmmmm R-I-B-S...!!!
To tell the truth, Isaac was disappointed in the ribs this year. They had been cooked enough that the cartilage and bones were falling apart and he ended up with too many bones in his mouth. But he loved the rest of the event. We invited the Fuller family to go with us so they rode with us. We all piled in the truck and off we went. They are a lot of fun. Just to catch everyone up, the Fuller family is part of our Hockey Family. Will is the goalie from Isaac's team last year.

The kids tore up the games. This is Isaac running the lane with 2, yes 2 bungee cords strapped to his back. The little guy ran it so fast with one that they had to strap a second bungee cord to him the give him a challenge. He mastered it with two as well. The object was to grab the black balls that were at the end, then put them back. He got them all. I will try to post some video later. He was an ANIMAL...!!!Isaac mastered the climbing wall. It was kind of steep on the price at $5. But when he hit the top and they let him go again, and he hit the top a second time, and they let him go again. I was OK with the $5. He got to the top of all three sides of the climbing wall. GREAT JOB Isaac...!!Finally, here is a picture with Will too. These balls were one of their highlights of the night. They put the boys in the ball, blew it up with a leaf blower and turned them loose in the water. The has so much fun. Again, I will try to post video later. The boys both got silly glasses with flashing lights and stars and strips blow up machine guns. they looked so cool and had a blast with them. Here the boys are together enjoying the Joe Diffie concert at the end of the day. If you look close in the upper right hand corner you can see Joe Diffie on the stage rockin' a little 'Third Rock from the Sun'. Here is a fuzzy picture of the boy and I. It was such a great time.
Jamie and Amy didn't want Lexy to be left out of the fun, so they bought her some silly glasses too. She loves them, no surprise there.

HB 2 Me

If you know me much you know that I don't like any fussing about my birthday. Well I kept things pretty low on the radar. There were some leaks on FaceBook, but I them shut down in time, but not before some of my family (church family) here in West Virginia got a hold of it. So before I knew it we were headed to the Payne's house to play games after dinner. The kids and I had made a cake, so we took it to share. Our cake got TOTALLY shown up by this cake...!!! But they do look great together. That fancy cake was made by our good friend SF. I am trying to keep it on the down low. She can let you know if'n she wants. But with such a fantastic cake I better be careful before I volunteer her to make more. I am pretty sure that she whipped that cake up same day. I don't think that she knew about the birthday or a party until mid-morning that day of. WOW. Thank you sooo much.

In keeping on the down low. I want to make sure that I thank the families that threw this little party. The P Family, the F Family, the B Family, and special guest January Carol. ;) Hope you like that one KB.

I have one action shot to share, these two have so much fun together. Just as a warning, I might steal this kid and her siblings. They are such great kids...!!!To wear it out, Thank You, all of you that put this together. I have really enjoyed the Diet Mt Dew and the mints. The party and games were a blast. It goes to show that you all know me. It is so nice to feel loved.
