LAX Last Game

Well, a good season of Lacrosse has come to an end. Isaac ended up playing with the Middle School B Team. He was a great asset to them on the defensive end. He got that long pole out there and disrupted everything. No more running down the middle of the defense zone. He'll drop you for that. If'n you have the ball of course.

This was the team picture at the last game of the season.

Here is a post game (season) picture of Isaac with Coach Dave.

And one proud papa pic.
Isaac really enjoys playing lacrosse.  He doesn't enjoy the running at practice so much, but the playing is fantastic.

LAX Season - Morgantown at Charleston

The lacrosse season is in full swing. The schedule is rather sporadic, but we do make most of the practices.  This last weekend the Morgantown Middle School kids came down to Charleston to play.  This was Isaac's 3rd game this season.  His coaches have figured out that he is pretty good to do his job on the team when assigned.  He didn't come out at all during the game this weekend (except for the penalty minutes that he served).  He was pretty strong on the Defense.

Here he is pregame, just before trotting out to the coin flip as a captain.  If you aren't familiar, lacrosse players like wild shorts.  His are middle of the road, not too wild, not too plain.  Of course he was able to get the bright color in with the socks.
Pre-game huddle.

He looks like a monster out there.  He is big for a 6th grader, fits in the upper half of 7th graders size-wise.  Morgantown brought some 5th graders to play.  They are tiny next to Isaac...!!
Isaac was bummed after the game.  Charleston lost 5-4... Muddy, rainy game.  Would have been more fun if they would have won.

LAX Game - Bridgeport 2013

The Charleston Middle School Lacrosse team hosted the Bridgeport boys for a B Team game this last weekend.  Isaac saw A LOT of playing time.  He was a rock on the defense for them.  Late in the 3rd quarter Isaac was calling to come out, because he had run the ball into the attack zone, but the coaches wouldn't let him come out.  They needed him in there.  Charleston ended up winning 13-5.

Here is Isaac chasing down a ball in the corner.
Here's Isaac (#18) with the ball trotting behind the net.  Two kids in chase and one trying to cut him off on the far side.  He didn't mind much, seemed to enjoy running over the other guys.
Here is the team huddled up for a pep talk just before the 4th quarter.
Isaac started the game at D wing, took a short break at the end of the 1st.  Played some mid-fielder (midee) in the second, then went back to D.  Started the second half at D wing, and never came out the rest of the game.

Good Job Isaac...!!!

LAX

Not the airport.... The game.... Lacrosse or LAX.

Isaac wanted to try lacrosse.  He had heard some of the kids at the ice rink talking about it.  So I looked them up online, emailed, and found out there is not a league here for his age.  But, they do get together every weekend to play.  So now we need the equipment.  The helmet, shoulder pads, gloves, etc. can cross over from hockey.  But the stick...!!??  I didn't have the free funds to drop $30-$50 for a cheap stick, so Isaac got to rolling.  He called Butch and asked if he could sell cookies again.  Then made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, did the math himself.  AND, because it was St. Patrick's Day he colored the dough green.  Called them Leprechaun Cookies.  He sold six dozen, close enough that I could help him get a stick.  And off we went to practice.
They both loved it.  Lexy only played catch with a girl from the ice rink who had been practicing with the girls group.  Now she kind of wants to play.
Isaac loved the physical nature of the game.  Here he is digging into the group after the ball.
I don't know how I happened to get these pictures.  Here he is with a clean hit on a kid about the same size as him.
Then Isaac looking over the damage to see if the kid is alright...
He is way into the LAX now...  Here is a quick video of him digging the ball out of the pile and running it down for a shot.
