Isaac and The Snowshoe AirForce

Isaac has been SOOOO obsessed with skiing.  But he comes by that obsession honest.  He spends most of the 3 hour drive looking for new skis and gear.  He put together quite a bag of trick for goofy costumes to ski in for the last weekend.  He teamed up with a young man from the Beckley area that he has watched all season at both Winterplace and Showshoe.  I dubbed them the Snowshoe AirForce.

Here he is in his DragonBall Z outfit with a neck tie and Fox hat.
The stinker has been launching the jumps all season.
He loves to slide the box rails.  His typical move is to slide sideways and land switch (backwards).
I wish that I had a better shot of him in the X-up.  The side shots don't quite give the effect.  But still, he's rockin' it.
This is one sweet picture.  Even more impressive when you know that he is traveling from right to left in the picture and rotating to land switch.  This was a sweet little jump under the lift that he used all weekend.
"WooHoo!! Remember the 80's..!!!"  he shouted as he dropped in to this mogul run.  He's been watching 'Hot Dogging' videos on YouTube and was blazing down these runs.  Wait until you see the video.
So, season totals for Isaac:  13 days, 3 resorts, one EPIC season...!!

Lexy Rocking Snowshow

So, we've been ski bums lately.  Ever since we got the Ridiculous Passes for Snowshoe we have spend all of our somewhat free time up there.  We've been six days since the first of March.  That works out to be $33 a day so far, AND we have all of next season.  Enough of all that, let's get to the pictures of Lexy.

This is hitting the slopes first thing in the morning on Saturday.  Bundled up and read to ride.  Is there a cuter ski bunny?  I submit that there is not.
We took a break mid-day on Sunday to watch the skimming.  Lexy got herself a nice seat to see it all first hand.
Here is is cruising a groomed carving run.  She has her tunes in her ears, pretty descent form, and plenty of her own speed.
We spend plenty of time on Saturday trading silly items to ski in.  Here's Lexy in the DragonBall Z top, with a tail and a neck tie.
Lexy is not afraid for the jumps.  She blasts over them as well as any 9 year old.  If you look at this one she in just finishing a grab of the right ski on this jump.  Yep, with style...
I wasn't so sure about this, but she showed me... Here she in mid-mogul run.  She even to the time to thumbs up as she passed me.  She picks a line, controls her speed, makes her turns, and concurs the slopes.
Lexy launching the side jump just below the lift.  She jumped in all weekend.  This jump seemed to get better and better as the weekend went on.
It's bitter sweet to have the season over.  Skiing is such a fantastic time, however, I am exhausted.

Season total for Lexy 10 days, 3 resorts, one EPIC season...!!

Snowshoe

We finally, after 3+ years of living here, made it to Snowshoe Resort.  It's the big local ski resort, about 3 hours from Charleston.  Boy did we ever have fun...!!!

We took pictures of our cold faces all bundled up.

And a bonus picture of Lexy in the lodge having some lunch...
Look at those rosy red cheeks... :)

Comin' in for a landing...

Winterplace Ski Resort - Feb 2013

Isaac joined the John Adams Middle School Ski Club this year.  He was pretty excited to do so.  It began an obsession for him of finding skis that he wanted and wishing for snow.  There has been enough snow to get all 5 of their planned trips in.  I even got to chaperone two the the trips, that means that Lexy got to ski as well.

Here is a quick pic of me to harass a friend that had texted me wondering if I could help them with something that evening.  Nope, I was busy.
Lexy is so super cute in her pink, on pink, on pink.  She really took off and learned to get her turns under control so that she could tackle the blue runs.  She like to tell folks that she was skiing the double black diamond runs because the terrain parks were listed that way.  She had a blast on the box rails and small jumps.
I do not have a picture of Isaac standing on the slopes.  He wouldn't hold still long enough.  He was either charging down the hill or hanging with his buddies.  But I was able to get this video of him.

Once we were on the lift it was a bit easier to get a picture.  Here's all three of us bundled up.
Lexy and I making silly faces.
Isaac was too happy to make a silly face.
This was Isaac and I with the lights in the background.  The view was awesome of all the trails and the village at the base of the hill
Poor kids, both of them have the ski bug like I get... Guess we'll have to go again sometime.
