More Projects in the Garage...

We have been working on making a desk for Isaac to fit under his bed. (I should post a picture of it for those of you who have not seen his freakin' tall, full size, loft bed.) This is a picture of the desk dry fit, still got a lot of sanding to do.It's been a long time coming. I think I started it in May. I ran into trouble... They don't sell 4x4's here. You can get pressure treated, green cut 4x4's or $6 a foot redwood 4x4's, but I just need a plain ol' fir 4x4. Ted at the office got tired of me whining about it and found me some rough cut oak 4x that was used for sewer pipe cribbing. Then he lent me his plainer to clean them up. It did a dandy job, and the oak was a bit softer than I thought it would be. That made the mortises easier to cut in with my chisel. Here is an after and before picture of the wood that I am using for the legs.

Thanks Ted...!!!
