Thriller Show Finale

Lexy skating in the Zombie Thriller Spring Skating Show Finale.  They were going for a zombie look.  I just grabbed what ever I could find at the house.  We did her hair crazy 80's style, with some dark blue streaks, and some streaks of white across her face.  She looked pretty cute, plenty zombie looking from the stands.
 Way to go Zombie Lexy...
Good thing I don't have much for brains, so that she didn't eat me.

CFS Club Competition - 2013

Charleston Figure Skating Club teamed with the Learn to Skate program and  had their spring competition this weekend.  Lexy hadn't signed up, until Tuesday when Ms Heidi signed her up.  I didn't even have a say.  AND, I still need to pay her for it.

Lexy skated to her "Dog Days are Over" bit and did the interpretative as well.

Here's Lexy with her long time skating buddy Alexis.  We don't see Alexis much because we are on different schedules, but it's always a treat when we do get to see her.
Here's a snap shot of and troublesome crew.  These three could get into some TROUBLE.
Lexy got 1st place with her program.
And 2nd with the interpretative.  Can you guess what song they skated to...??

Louisville Skating Competition

Lexy skated in the Louisville Skating Academy spring competition this last weekend.  This is about the 3rd or 4th year that she has skated in this one.  It's always so much fun to watch her skate, even more when she is competing.  She took 7th in Preliminary Test Track Program and 4th in Preliminary Interpretative.  For the interpretative her group got 'Call Me Maybe'.  Super fun for those girls.

Here are some super great pictures from her program.

If you watch what you are looking at there, several of those shots are mid jump.

I will be posting some video's of her programs later.

Big Skate Weekend

WOW... What a weekend of skating...

First of all Lexy skated at the Thorourghbred Figure Skating Club's spring competition in Lexington, Kentucky.  She has skated this show before and we took the opportunity to let her skate it again. It turns out that she was the only skater from Charleston FSC.  Ms. Mischa rode with us to save us the cost of her travel. (Thanks Ms. Mischa).  Lexy skated both a program and for the first time she competed in Spins.

Here is Lexy and Ms. Mischa just before warm-ups.
What's that...???  Did I video her...???  Well of course I did...!!  Here's the links on YouTube.

She ended up with first in spins and fifth in the program. Here is a quick podium photo.
One of Lexy and I in front of their banner.
 And Ms Mischa and Lexy...!!!
So we raced back to Charleston on Saturday because Ms. Mischa had skaters testing on Saturday night.  Lexy was slatted to test on Sunday morning.  The testing is a little different that the shows and the competition.  No one is allowed in the rink other that the judges, the coaches and the skaters.  So, all the parents just hang out in the lobby area.

This is a quick shot of Lexy during the test through two panes of glass.

She took the Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field Test and the Pre-Preliminary Free Skate Test.

The moves test includes four sections Forward Perimeter Stroking, Basic Consecutive Edges, Forward Right and Left Foot Spirals, and aWaltz Eight.  Waltz Eight, sounds easy enough, but click on that link and check out the diagram.

The free skate test is one where the judge asks Lexy to go skate a certain move, she skates it, and returns to the judge for further instructions.  It includes Waltz Jump, Salchow, Toe Loop, 1/2 Flip,1/2 Lutz and a One-foot Upright Spin.

I am so super proud of Lexy for working so hard at a sport that she loves and passing these tests to show her skill.  Love ya Baby J...!!! <3

Next for her will be the Preliminary Tests.

CFSC Spring Show 2012

Lexy skated in the Charleston Figure Skating Club's Spring Show.  She was in two numbers the first opening act that was her Skate for Hope team.  I just watched that one.  But I filmed the second act that she was it.  It happened the be the closing act.  "Be Our Guest" which was made up of Ms Mischa's students.  It was super for them all.

I also filmed Zoey B skating to "White Horse".  She is the gal that calls Lexy her Mini-Me.

I'll add some pictures later....

Lexy and her skating buddies

I haven't posted about Lexy skating for quite some time.  She is still skating quite a bit.  Different days, different times.  We still hang out there a lot.  Here are some shots of her at the rink.

Lexy and her buddy Emily.

This one is from out church skating day, Camryn P, Lexy and Tashia.
Glamour shot...
Here's Lexy and her buddy Zoey.  She was working with Lexy on her sit spin.  Zoey didn't even plan to skate that day.  She changed clothes, strapped on her skates and worked with Lexy.  The love skating with each other.  Zoey call Lexy her "Mini Me".
More sit spin work.
Zoey and Lexy.
As a side note for Lexy's skating, she got qualified to skate on the cast of Skate for Hope.  Thank you to all who donated to her and the cause...!!  She is also working on a new routine for Lexington, a Test Session, and Synchro is starting up again. Oh yeah, and the Spring Show...

Misc Hockey 2012

Feel like the blog has missed some hockey this season.  I don't seem to take as many pictures as I used to at the games.  I ran through and picked a few to post today.
Here Isaac is in the warm up drill they do before each game.
Not sure how I got him facing the camera, but this is a blurry shot from the front.
There he is ready at the face off ready to get the pass and take it in...
Isaac is playing right wing in this face off.  This is a good offensive line up.  The other two boys love to pass the puck and work together.
Here he is in the defensive zone looking for the puck to be dropped out where he and take off with it.
Now it's time to head to the locker room...
The West Virginia Wild (PeeWee's) have finished the regular season 22-0.  There were a few games that they almost didn't pull off.  But they enter the tournaments undefeated.  We'll see how they do.

More Synchro Trip

Wow, these few pictures are a long time coming.  They are from the Synchro Trip that we made last month to Hershey, PA.  We lucked out when we left Charleston and ended up convoying with Katie and Olivia's families.  We followed with them for a while and when they stopped we teamed up with them.  They gave us a radio to chat back and forth with.  AND... the girls painted up the windows of our car.
It is so nice to have these girls that are a little older than Lexy accept her like they do.  She was on top of the world.  They even painted her side window.
She ended up riding some with me and some with them.  The radios made it all really fun.

Here is a group of the girls at Chocolate World on the first day of skating.  In there are Katie, Katie's sister in the pink coat, Olivia, Emily, Lexy, Carly, and Maddy.  There were a lot more of the team there, but this is the group that got together for this picture.
West Virginia Synchro ROCKS...!!!

West Virginia Syncho at Eastern's

Here is the video from Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Competition in Hershey, PA. Lexy is the team alternate. She is the first one on the ice, but as the group comes back to the center she skates off the ice. Ms. Vicky, the coach, told me what a huge help to the team Lexy as been because any time there was a skater missing Lexy would fill in. We are super proud of you Lexy...!!!

Isaac's Birthday Party

Isaac's Birthday Party at the ice rink turned out great...!!!  We had a great turn out, he got great presents, we all had a great time.  They skated, played the Kinects, ate cake, and just had fun.  Just after this picture the boys started chanting "Cut the Cake!  Cut the Cake!" because Isaac told them he didn't want to eat the cake because he liked it so much.
This is most, but not all, of the boys that came to Isaac's party.  Everyone he invited from his hockey team came, most of the kids from his school that he invited came.  I was really happy at the turn out.
(Go Parker!)
One last picture with the cake before it was cut into pieces and washed down with ice cream and Cranberry Canada Dry.
He was on Cloud 9.  After the party he and I took JoJo to dinner and JoJo got to sleep over.  What a fantastic day for Isaac.

Thank You Butch for taking care of us...!!!

Happy Halloween

I still like Lexy and my joke about how to spell it... H A Double L O Double U Double E N...

Here is Lexy and her friend Kirsten Trick or Treating in the Fore's neighborhood. These two tore it up... We had to keep and eye on them, they were running ahead, hitting houses twice. Gettin' CANDY...!!!
Isaac and JoJo were being grumpy. Both of them had great costumes that THEY picked out. Both of them decided on Halloween that they didn't want to wear them. Both of them were forced by there parents to wear the costume and go Trick or Treating. Poor kids. Such mean parents...
I don't think that this is just for Halloween, but this tree face we saw while out last night was cool.
Isaac had hockey practice after Trick or Treating. There were only a hand full of players that showed up. It was a good low key, plenty of individual help, kind of practice. Lexy talked Butch into letting her skate for the last half hour of the Mite's ice time, seeing how none of them were there. Thanks Butch...!!!

Lexy's 8th Birthday Party

Oh boy did we ever have a Birthday Party...!!!

I picked up the kids right after school so that we could finish getting ready for Lexy's Birthday Party on Friday afternoon. I was a little bit worried about the early start time, 3:30pm on a Friday. But we had a great turn out. I grabbed some pink, sparkle, spray-in hair dye for Lexy. She LOVED it...!! My, my it is soooo PINK...!!! I posted a version of this cake that we had on her birthday. But this is the one that we had at the party. Nice and small, it was all gone by the end of the party. Huh, Helper C...???

Look at all the people that came to Lexy's party. There were two more that showed up late. Being such an early time of day and the 'off season', there were only 2 or 3 other skaters one the ice the whole time. So, we kept control of the music and such. Fun time for the kids.

Here is a little cake time, just before they all sang to her. Look and that cake a blaze... We played two games in addition to skating. Pin the Stuff on Lexy and a version of hot potato with a Stink-eez. The Pin the Stuff on Lexy was fun. We had skates, hair bows, a crown, ear rings, a necklace. It was pretty fun, and she just happened to pick the skating dress to wear to the party that was the same as the poster I had printed for the game.
After the party we went to a pho-Mexican place for dinner. It was pretty much a goodbye to the Barker's dinner with the Payne's. The kids all had so much fun. I'm pretty sure the adults enjoyed the visit as well. I know that I did. Still kind of sad that the Barker's bailed on us. They had all lined up the restaurant up to sing Happy Birthday in Lexy in Mexican. They brought out this giant sombrero and two fried ice creams. At the end of the song one of the guys picked up the treat and held it in front of Lexy, she thought it was to try the treat... Nope, they pushed in in her face... Hahaha...!!! Just a little, it was so fun, she loved it. She talked and talked about how fun that was. Turned out to be a fantastic evening. Thank you so much for all the help, Helper C, Butch, Zoey, Jess, Andrew, Cam, Jen, and all the others that helped me pull this off. Thanks to all the parents that brought your kids. You all helped me make a WONDERFUL memory for my little Princess.
