Misc Stuff from this Week

I got a call from a strange phone number the other night. It was Elder Wright. One of the missionaries that we got quite close with last summer when he was serving in Charleston. He and I have passed some letters back and forth. It was his last day on his mission and he wanted to see us. The kids and I met him at the mission home for about an hour. It was super fun. He headed back to Dallas, TX where he is from, but he is planning to go to school in Pittsburgh, PA this fall. We'll see him again when he comes back. Thanks Elder Wright...!!!
I was in downtown Charleston yesterday and saw this car. We parked and walked back to check it out. Pretty cool. I talked to the guy for a minute. He is from here and is working on a temporary basis with Google to map the area. He said that once he was done the car would be passed on to someone in a different area and he would find a new job. I use Google Street View all the time so it was cool to see one of their cars.
Matt and I were passing through Charleston about lunch time so we stopped by Pies and Pints for some lunch. I like this picture.

Last night we stopped by the SCMIA to get Isaac's skates. We accidentally left them their the other day. Butch told the kids, "We have dead ice until 7:15 if you want to skate." Of course they do. Isaac laced up and borrowed a stick while Lexy and I ran home to get her skates. I brought Isaac back some other gear, he had a blast with one of the guys that works at the rink getting some extra stick and puck drills in. I left my iPod with him so that he could get some jammin' in at the same time on the ice rink sound system.

Even Lexy got in on some stick and puck. They had fun passing the puck back and forth. She wanted a picture in her hockey pose. You all know Lexy though, she skated her last routine, did some spins with the stick in hand, and skated to some Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

I love that place. THANK YOU Butch...!!!!

JD's Hockey Camp

Isaac skated in JD's Hockey Camp last week at SCMIA. He missed the first two days as we were coming back from Utah. He had so much fun at the camp. It was great to see him jump back into hockey. I couldn't believe how fast he was when he first step on to the ice. It was great.

This is the camp photo. Isaac is on the far left on one knee.

Here is a quick picture of him sitting on the wall at the hockey box. This one is Isaac and Will the goalie from last years Squirts team. Will is a great goalie and a great kid. Isaac ended up have a sleepover at Will's house on Saturday night. Good family. I jumped in to this one with Isaac. It was fun to see him skate. If you notice behind us hanging from the ceiling is the banner that was hung up to represent the 2010-11 Squirts Championship. Here is a quick video of Isaac skating the cones drill. Too bad he didn't have a beginning of the week time to compare. I was pretty impressed with how fast he was able to skate this. He has really improved his skills over the last year.

Trip to the Dentist

Lexy had to get some dental work done this morning. She had on cavity filled and sealant put into her molars. Our dentist is so awesome. He explains things to the kids, talks about his boys, and he and I swap recipes while he works. Oh, I almost forgot, they have digital wireless Xrays, so cool.

Here is Dr. Graziani showing Lexy what he is going to do in her mouth. Here it is up close and personal. Notice the pink nose piece. Of course Lexy picks the pink one. Here he is getting her fixed up. Lexy hates to go to the dentist, but she has fun when she is there. She cried a little when we were driving to the appointment, but she loves to visit with Dr. Graziani and his assistants.

Summer Program

This is Lexy's Summer Skating Camp Program. She picked the music and most of the moves herself. We are so proud of you Lexy...!!!

New Diggers

Lexy got some new shoes last week. I think that they are super cute. They are low profile, pink and white, Puma's.
She also has been spending a bunch of time with her new friends the Payne Girls. Here is a fun picture of Camryn and Lexy together. Camryn to so sweet and fun to be around. All of the Payne Girls are. They are a great family.

This picture is right after Lexy's summer skating camp show, just before she taught Camryn how to skate. We can't wait to take Jamie and Brylee. Maybe we'll just make it a family night activity.

Old Ice

That title has dual meaning. This post is a few weeks late, and the pictures are of the old ice and South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena. Here is a picture of Isaac and Lexy in the door to the ice. this was after most all of the decals, circles and lines had been pulled up. The ice is soft, too soft to even skate on.Isaac got a major hook up from Butch. He got to be the last one to skate on the old ice. As you look at that picture notice the brown spots. That is where the sand under the ice is showing through. Some of the spots are where the logos had been, others are high spots in the sand. Also notice that Isaac has on rental skates. He and I stopped by to see how the process was coming after Scouts one night. Butch told Isaac to grab a pair of rental skates and take a few laps if he wanted to. Of course he wanted to. Isaac said the ice was "sticky". That is because he is used to skating on ice that is about 15 deg and at that time it was only about 28 deg.
We don't have enough pictures of Butch on our blog. He has been such a big part of our lives over the last few years. This is a great in character picture of he and Isaac. We sure love Butch...!!!
